By David Stark, 4th Year BSc Computer Science, University of Strathclyde At the end of February, I was lucky enough to join Craig and Sami on their latest trip to Africa for final testing of VetAfrica as part of my Honours project at Strathclyde. For the project, I have been developing some new features for VetAfrica, notably looking at ways to aid recognition of symptoms, aiming towards a more precise diagnosis. I saw a great opportunity to use native facilities of the mobile phone platform to produce a decision support tool which could be accessible to a really wide spectrum of users. After spending some time getting to grips with the Windows Phone SDK (Which wasn’t too painful, thanks to having experience developing for Android), I integrated these new features into the application, which allows the user to view more detailed explanations and previously stored images of symptoms and also to take additional pictures or add descriptions to the resource.
